Betting ROI Calculator

Turns a win-loss-push record and your average odds into units won, return on investment (ROI) and profit in dollars. Built for bettors who track results in units.

How to use it

  1. 1 Enter your wins, losses and pushes. Pushes can be left at 0.
  2. 2 Enter your average odds and choose the format.
  3. 3 Set the stake per bet in units (1 by default) and, optionally, the dollar value of one unit.
  4. 4 Read units won, ROI and the comparison of your win rate with the break-even rate.

How units and ROI are calculated

A unit is a fixed bet size. Each win earns stake x (decimal odds - 1) units and each loss costs the stake. Units won is the sum of those results.

ROI is units won divided by units risked. A push is a refunded bet, so it risks nothing: pushes are left out of units risked, out of ROI and out of the win rate. Win rate is wins divided by wins plus losses.

Average odds are an approximation

This calculator applies one average price to every bet. If your bets ranged from -150 to +200, the true result depends on which ones won, so treat the output as an estimate. For an exact figure, add up the profit of each settled bet.

The break-even win rate shown next to your actual win rate is 1 divided by the average decimal odds. A win rate above it is what produces positive ROI.

Worked example

A 30-22-3 record at -110 with 1 unit per bet and a $50 unit. Decimal odds are 1.909, so each win earns 0.909 units. Units won is 30 x 0.909 - 22 = +5.27 units. Units risked are 52 (the 3 pushes are not counted), so ROI is +10.14%.

Win rate is 30 of 52, or 57.69%, against a break-even rate of 52.38%, which is 5.31 points higher. At $50 per unit the profit is $263.64.

The formula

Units won = wins x stake x (decimal - 1) - losses x stake Units risked = (wins + losses) x stake ROI = units won / units risked Win rate = wins / (wins + losses) Profit = units won x unit size

Frequently asked questions

Any ROI above 0% over a long run is profitable, and holding even a few percent over a large sample is hard. Short samples swing far more than that.
Pushes are refunded, so they add no units risked, no profit and no loss. They are excluded from ROI and win rate.
They are usually the same thing here: profit divided by the amount risked. Some trackers divide by bankroll instead, which gives a different number.
Hundreds at least. With a few dozen bets, luck can easily produce a high or negative ROI that says little about skill.
This tool assumes the same units on every bet. For varied stakes, convert each bet to units, sum the results and divide by total units risked.
