Odds Converter

Type odds in any one format and the other three fill in as you type. It is built for bettors who see a price in one format and need it in another.

How to use it

  1. 1 Type the odds you have into the matching box: American, decimal, fractional or implied probability.
  2. 2 Read the other three boxes. They update on every keystroke, and the box you are typing in is never rewritten.
  3. 3 Enter a stake to see the profit and total payout, or enter the profit you want and the stake fills in.

How to convert between odds formats

All three formats describe the same price. Decimal odds are the total you get back per 1 staked, stake included, so 2.50 returns 2.50 for every 1 you bet. Fractional odds show profit over stake: 3/2 means 3 profit for every 2 staked, which is decimal 2.50. American odds show the profit on a 100 stake for underdogs (+150) or the stake needed to win 100 for favorites (-150).

To go from American to decimal, divide a positive number by 100 and add 1, or divide 100 by a negative number (ignoring the minus sign) and add 1. To go from decimal to American, subtract 1: at 2.00 or above multiply by 100 and add a plus sign, below 2.00 divide 100 by the result and add a minus sign. For fractional, divide the top number by the bottom and add 1 to get decimal.

Which format is used where

American odds are standard at US sportsbooks. Decimal odds are standard across Europe, Canada and Australia and on betting exchanges. Fractional odds are traditional in UK and Irish racing. Because the calculator converts all of them from one exact value, converting back and forth does not drift.

Odds that are listed as a whole American number are rounded, so a decimal price like 1.91 and a listed price of -110 are close but not identical. The calculator keeps the unrounded value behind the scenes.

Worked example

Type -110 in the American box. The decimal box shows 1.909 (about 1.91), the fractional box shows 10/11 and the implied probability box shows 52.38%. With a 100 stake the calculator shows a profit of $90.91 and a total payout of $190.91.

Now try +150: decimal 2.50, fractional 3/2, implied probability 40.00%.

The formula

American to decimal: +A -> A / 100 + 1; -A -> 100 / A + 1 Decimal to American: D >= 2 -> (D - 1) x 100; D < 2 -> -100 / (D - 1) Fractional N/M to decimal: N / M + 1 Decimal to implied probability: 1 / D

Frequently asked questions

Divide 100 by 110 and add 1. That gives 1.909, usually shown as 1.91.
Subtract 1 from the decimal odds. If decimal is 2.00 or higher, multiply by 100 and put a plus sign in front (2.50 becomes +150). If it is below 2.00, divide -100 by the result (1.50 becomes -200).
Divide 5 by 2 to get 2.5, then multiply by 100. That is +250, which is 3.50 in decimal.
Some decimal prices have no neat fraction. The converter shows the fraction with the smallest denominator (up to 1000) that lands within 0.01% of the exact price. Decimal 1.91 shows as 91/100, while -110 shows as 10/11 because the exact price is 1.909.
Yes. Both mean even money: you win what you stake. That is 2.00 in decimal and 1/1 in fractional. Sportsbooks usually show it as +100.
